Question: Whats the best way to clean glass pieces using only things you can buy at the grocery store?
Answer: All of the cleaning solutions in head shops are a scam - NEVER BUY THEM! All you need to clean out any glass piece is 91% Rubbing Alcohol and Epsom Salt. Both items can basically be found anywhere and are cheap as hell, especially in comparison to the scam 420 solutions they will try to sell you at the head shop.
Plug one end of your pipe or bong with a wet rag or rubber stopper. Fill the piece with the rubbing alcohol and then add in some Epsom Salt, the bigger the piece the more salt you should add. The salt acts as a scrub while the rubbing alcohol loosens the resins bonds to the glass. Once your piece is all filled, plug up the last hole and shake it, being careful not to let go and watch it smash against the wall or ceiling (I have done this before, FUCK!).
After a good shake it helps to get in there with pipe cleaners and get all those last stubborn bits of resin. After you are done thoroughly rinse the piece with warm water. You can also send stronger glass through the rinse cycle if you have a dish washer.
Good question, Way too many people enjoy buying 8ozs of Purple Power cleaning solution for $20 that won’t clean half as good as $3 worth of Rubbing Alcohol (The higher the ISO the Better) and Epsom Salt.
